Great staffs!

Ok, so i was in Bali for a holiday. me and my partner was planning to go to Candidasa (a small village on the east of Bali) for snorkeling on the next day. at that moment, i was just relaxing on Kuta beach, getting a bit of tan on my pale skin. until around 4 o'clock i started to feel really uncomfortable in my right stomach. I thought it was nothing, and hoping that it would go away. but the pain just got worse and worse at night. so around 7.30 pm, me and my partner went to the local clinic. The doctor there was friendly. He said that it may be appendicitis, but i would have to be tested more thoroughly in a hospital.
Oh no, what about my original plan? i was already imaging my self snorkeling for beautiful corals and fishes in the clear water. but what if i really did have an appendicitis? choosing to avoid the risk, i did what the doctor advised me to. So the next thing we did was we went to the hospital. I was actually worried, that if i had to go on an operation, I'm not quite sure if i wanted to have it in a hospital in Indonesia. I keep thinking that the hospital was going to be dirty, and i was really worried that they might use second hand needles. If that was the case, i'd rather fly out the country.
All this horror image in my mind suddenly fade away when we arrived to this hospital. the hospital name was "kasih Ibu Hospital". apparently, i was taken to a room, which says "International Emergency room". Wow, everything was so clean, the doctor was friendly and professional, everyone speaks English. So the doctor examined me for a bit, and asked me varies questions. then a specialist was called, and he said that i should be Examined with an Ultrasound machine. As we were waiting for the specialist to come and prepare the "Ultrasonography", the nurse came over with some papers for me to sign. He asked me for my passport copy and insurance certificate if i had insurance. Luckily i always get insured whenever i travel. Just as all administration stuff was done, the doctor comes up and said, "ok, lets go to the USG room".
Wow, everything was done so quick. Nothing like in the UK. But i guess because this is a private hospital, not a government hospital.
After the USG scan, he doctor explained to me that i did have an inflamation on my appendix, and he suggested that it should be removed right away. Oh no, an operation! Then the doctor said not to worry, this is quite a simple procedure to do. judging by the professionalism of the doctors and staff, my fear of an operation in a foreign country slowly fades away.
As i was waiting to be operated, the administration staff came to me and said that all was covered, don't worry about the payment, all is sorted out. Wow!(third one in this blog!). The next thing i know was that i was awake from the operation. Everything seems to be going round and round. i was sort of half conscious, looking up to my partner in a big room. It took me a couple of hour to fully gain my conscious. My partner was still sitting beside me. She hold me and asked how i was feeling. apart that i just had my belly cut open and slight dizziness, i felt quite alright. I realised that i am in a big clean room. I'm just laying on the hospital bed, staring around the room. there was an LCD TV, a fridge, an extra bed for my partner, a medium size living room. Well, this is just great! this room was actually bigger and better than the hotel i was staying before.
A nurse came in and checked the dripping/ infuse. she smiled and, asked weather i have passed wind yet or not. i said "I beg your pardon?" (was i so smelly, that it made she think that i have farted?)hehe
She smiled again, and explained that passing wind is a sign of a successfully operation, and the doctor said that i should pass gas before i eat or drink. Ok, i get it now. hehe. so i truthfully answer "no, not yet", and the nurse said "alright then, when you do, and you are hungry, just press the buzzer, and i will come right away.

During my stay, i might have pressed the nurse buzzer at least 20 times, and the nurse always comes with a smile, and helped me on anything i need. Three days after the operation, the doctor said that I'm ready to go. an hour later, the administration staff come and asked me to sign the bill. i didn't even look at how much it was because the important thing is that i am better, and its paid for. hurray! but to bad, i cant go snorkeling yet. so there will be a change of plans. i think that me and my partner will enjoy the rest of our holiday at sanur. a quieter place than Kuta, a better place for recovering. Just a day before my flight back to the UK, i had to come back to the hospital for a review, and to make sure that i was fit to fly. The doctor examined me, and changed the wound dressing. He said that i was fit to fly. The doctor made sure i had all medical reports and medicines to take home with me.

So here i am, back in the UK and good as new. what an experience. But im glad that i was treated at Kasih Ibu Hospital.

Please respond to this blog if you ever had the same experience! Cheers!
